caroline

If you read my blog regularly, you may remember Sweet Caroline from early in the summer. Well, this weekend while her parents traveled to Chicago so her dad, Rus, could run the marathon, Caroline spent the weekend with her grandparents. And because we don’t have grandchildren and love Caroline like our own, they shared her with us this afternoon. Caroline is the best baby. She played, giggled, and chased our cat, Puddin’. Puddin’ didn’t let her get too close, but that didn’t deter Caroline!

Caroline’s mom, Adrienne, sent a tutu so we could snap a few pictures while Caroline visited. There are some photographers who specialize in children and do amazing portraits. I’m not one of them. But, I did have fun with Caroline today and I think we got some great shots.

I love pictures of babies in funky hats. So this afternoon while Caroline napped, I sent Grandma Barb on a mission to find some funky hats for us to use in pictures. Since Barb is a shopping queen, this mission was right up her alley. And she found the perfect hat. At first Caroline wasn’t really sure about the whole hat idea – but she warmed up to it quickly. Pun intended. It was much too hot to be wearing a hat so after a few shots . . . she was done!

Adrienne, hope you like the hat. It’s Caroline’s birthday present from Rusty and me – along with a matching pink sweater. Hopefully, Caroline will like the hat a little more when it gets cold!

cutter

Yesterday afternoon I went to the beach with Cutter, Paxton and their parents. This was supposed to be Cutter’s 2 year old portrait – but he’s really a little older than 2 now because it took us a while to get the session scheduled. I’ve always known that boys are just plain different from girls, and Cutter proved that theory to be true once again. The beach was far too interesting to be still, pose and smile for a picture. Good golly . . . there are shells, and rocks, and birds, and waves. And there is lots of open space to throw rocks and run. How could any self-respecting 2 year old boy not play? So while Cutter played, I snapped a few pictures. And I thoroughly enjoyed watching Cutter be all boy. He had the most infectious giggle when his mother was playing the Mexican Jumping Bean to get him to smile. I put Paxton in a few pictures because she’s the very opposite of Cutter. She LOVES to have her picture taken. And she likes to be still and pose.

This is the 2nd time I’ve had the pleasure of photographing Cutter and Paxton. It was nice to see them again to see how they’ve grown and matured. Cutter isn’t a baby anymore – and Paxton is turning into a beautiful young lady.  Time just continues to fly.

ashley

Ashley is a senior this year and is hoping to attend the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill next year. She’s my kind of girl! I told her I was in culture shock my first semester at Carolina. She has much more life experience than I did at 18, so I’m sure she’ll do great in Chapel Hill. Hmmmm, maybe I’ll get to go shoot her college senior portraits at the Old Well in a few years. The last time I was there was to shoot my niece, Kathryn’s, graduation pictures.

When Ashley stepped out of her car yesterday, I was so excited to see that she’s a brunette. I love blonds too, mind you, but lately ALL of my clients have been blond. I love Ashley’s perky short hair and deep brown eyes. She was an absolute joy to work with – as are all of my seniors. We visited several downtown spots and had a great time. Though it was a little gusty, it was cool and the light was beautiful. We just ran out of light before I was ready to stop shooting.

It generally takes me 6-8 hours to edit a senior gallery. And, I have a big job to finish before I can start Ashley’s gallery. So, here is a sneak preview. There are more great things to come!nassar-1.jpgnassar-2.jpgnassar-3.jpg
